Reviews

Cat loves it.

"My 12 year old cat lost most her teeth and is unable to chew kibble. After all the wet foods I bought, honest kitchen is the only one she will eat. Shes super picky and will not eat human food. Never would even since birth. She LOVES this cat food and looks way healthier than ever before. I highly recommend. Little pricey but worth it to keep my kitty happy."

David C. (5/5)

"Looks like fresh ingredients and I love what's in it, just my cats will not eat this no matter how much or little water I put in to try to make it different textures."

Meghan (3/5)

Milo loves it!

"Milo eats the dehydrated food breakfast and dinner. Happy cat happy life!"

Stephanie R. (5/5)

Cats like it a lot

"Our cats really like this food a lot, but it is definitely not their favorite. They prefer the whole food clusters with the shredded food with the bone broth gravy mixed into it. We use this dehydrated food as a topper and also in between food orders when we are running low on the other."

Amanda C. (4/5)

Yum!

"My six month old kittens easily transitioned to the Grain Free Chicken food from their dry kibble diet - no tummy troubles, just smooth sailing. They squawk and chrip for it just like they do canned wet food! I am very pleased with the quality ingredients and the ease of feeding time."

Carrie B. (5/5)

My Cat's Favorite

"This food is my cat's favorite. I feel great about feeding her something so nutritious that is also relatively easy for us to maintain in our routine. Thank you for making such a wonderful product!"

Elizabeth L. (5/5)

Nope

"My cats would not touch this on its own and, when I mixed a small amount into food they definitely like, it also seemed to ruin the good food for them. My cats do love The Honest Kitchen boxed wet food though."

Jaime B. (1/5)

Cats like it

"So far my cat seemed to like this new flavor that we tried. They like the other dehydrated flavors as well."

Haylan T. (5/5)

They love it!!!

"My cats absolutely LOVE this food! Thank God because I trust this company's standards and I know they're getting high quality nutrition as well as a higher water intake 🥰💗🙏 I use filtered water to mix in with this food, so the hard water will also not be an issue on their kidneys 💗🙏 I've used this food for years and have recommended to many people as an animal nutritionist 💗🙏"

Jessica S. (5/5)

Our cat really loves it

"Our cat loves it and asks for it at the time that he knows he's getting it. This is addictive!"

Q&A

How many servings per box? Let’s say I give my cat 1 cup a day… how many servings will that be? Basically , how many cups are in the box?
Hi Michelle, Thank you for reaching out to The Honest Kitchen. Each 4lb box yields approximately 16 cups of the dry mix. Please let me know if you have any other concerns. All the best,
Please explain the formula changes in your dehydrated chicken cat food , and why these changes were made
Hi Anita, No changes were made on any of our recipes. However, since our diets are made in such small batches, seasonal variations can cause noticeable differences in the consistency, looks, and taste of the food. This can be due to the time of year of harvesting, weather, dehydration, and other natural variations. However, all of our sourcing, standards, ingredients, and formulation remain the same. It's a common trait among products that are made from ingredients that are close to their natural form for them to slightly vary from crop to crop. It can be seen as an indication of how natural our products are in comparison to some more processed diets. I hope this helps.
Is this made up of dark or white chicken meat, or a combination of both?
Hi Tina, Thank you for reaching out to The Honest Kitchen! We only use muscle meat on our recipes unless stated on ingredients if there are organs added just like our clusters recipes where liver is added. Hope this helps!
Hi, just saw your product at Pet Smart but they don’t carry the cat food just the dog food. I’m intrigued by your just add water product but can’t seem to find information on how many servings are in a 10 oz package.
Hi Mary, Each packet size is at 1oz its ranging between 1/4 - 1/3 of dry cups measured. I hope this helps.
Hi there! How long can the food be left out after mixing the water in? Wondering if it is like wet food and needs to be refrigerated after a certain amount of time!
Hi Juni, Once our dehydrated recipes have been reconstituted with water, they will essentially turn into fresh food again. As bacteria can start to form within a few hours, we do not recommend letting the dehydrated or wet food sit out for extended periods of time. For this reason, we recommend picking the bowl up once your pet is done eating, and then we suggest refrigerating the leftovers, covered, for up to 3 days. I like to add a splash of warm water to the refrigerated food when I go to serve it again to get it back to the same temperature and consistency. I hope this helps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each pound of dehydrated food equates to about 4 dry cups of food. Find your cat's daily feeding amount using the feeding guidelines.

Divide that amount by the total dry cups in your chosen box (see below).

2 lb box = 8 dry cups

4 lb bag= 16 dry cups

Example: A 3 year old 10 lb cat with an average activity level is recommended 1/2 dry cups per day. If you purchase a 4 lb box (16 dry cups), it will last 32 days.

No, our dehydrated food has been gently cooked prior to dehydration. Specifically, the proteins we use are cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165ºF to ensure they're safe and free of pathogens.
