What is the target urinary ph, or what is the ph?

Hi Megan, Thank you for reaching out to the Honest Kitchen. Our foods have a pH of about 5.8 to 6.4, depending on the particular diet. The resultant output urine will have a pH of between 6.1 to 6.7 for a normal healthy pet consuming our foods. We test each batch to ensure that it falls within normal ranges as part of our quality control program. Our foods aren't designed to artificially alter urinary pH like some prescription diets. Sodium chloride is fairly early in your ingredient list so that means everything after it is very minimal. So how is this better than other kibble. Why isn’t the organ meat, etc before the sodium.

Per AAFCO standards, sodium can only make up 1% or less of a recipe, so everything before sodium on our ingredients lists will make up the majority of what's in the recipe. For cats, it's important for the majority of their nutrition to come from high quality animal protein. Organ meats are often used to cover the vitamins and minerals needed for cats, but these nutrients can also be found from other sources and still provide the necessary levels to be considered complete and balanced, creating a meal that has everything that a cat would need. 100% of the ingredients in our diets are Human Food Grade. This applies to the individual components of our vitamin/mineral premix, as well. Human grade (or ‘food grade’) refers to a product that is suitable for human consumption. This contrasts with ‘feed-grade,’ which is only suitable for animal consumption and deemed unfit for people to eat. Most of the vitamins and minerals in our recipes are naturally occurring and derived from the minimally processed, colorful whole food ingredients we use. Any vitamin in the recipes not listed below will be from a synthetic source. Compared with most other pet food manufacturers, we add very few vitamins and minerals in the form of a premix simply because the gentle dehydration process helps maintain so much of the natural nutrition (including enzymes, phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals) in our ingredients. We supplement the natural food-based nutrients in our recipes with a custom pre-mix containing a handful of vitamins and minerals that are not present in sufficient quantities to meet the AAFCO Nutrient Profiles. It's important to note that any nutrient can be toxic in high enough amounts. We're adding only the appropriate amounts of nutrients deemed by AAFCO. Other manufacturers often add numerous premix-based vitamins and minerals to their products because the nutrition has been heat-processed out of the ingredients or because they are using by-product-based ingredients that are severely lacking in natural nutrients. Our vitamin-mineral premix is 100% human food grade. The vitamins and minerals we use are primarily sourced from Japan; our premix does not contain any components whatsoever from China. The premix is blended here in the USA. Our minerals are chelated, which means they've been bound to amino acids for better absorption. The vitamins in our pre-mix are approved in natural and organic products. If I feed my cat 1/2 cup of clusters per day, how long will a bag last?

How many days will one-10 pound bag last if I am feeding half of a cup per day per cat? I have two cats
