Cat seems to like it

"I am transitioning my cat to wet food and wanted the healthiest I could find. This brand ticked all of my boxes and this was my first order. Locally, I did find another flavor of the minced and the beef and chicken cate and they all seem to go over well. I have a feeling the cate is the preferred so that remains to be seen. Still he likes all of it. My main cat was easy to transition though he still seems to want kibble at times. I tried to tell him that cats are not grazers but he's not listening to any of that. I wish more local places carried this though Pet Supplies Plus did tell me I could probably special order it. Feeding the wet food, my Tucker is not constantly at the water bowl anymore. So far so good!"

What are your sources for protein , is this food made in USA with USA ingredients? Concerned for many companies now outsourcing their ingredients and manufacturing facilities.: Hi Lisa, Thank you for reaching out to The Honest Kitchen. Our meat animals are raised according to USDA guidelines for treatment according to human consumption standards. This ensures no 4-D meat (dying, diseased, disabled, deceased animals) ever lands in our pet food. The chicken used in our line of dehydrated whole foods for pets, cookies, and the chicken liver in Clusters, is sourced from Pitman Family Farms and Petaluma Poultry. The chicken from these suppliers is 100% USDA certified free range, meeting or exceeding GAP standards, and fed no antibiotics ever. The birds have access to the outdoors where they can scratch for food and are fed a supplemental diet of vegetables and grains (absolutely no animal products of any kind are used in their feed). These chicken ranchers also follow Dr. Temple Grandin’s animal welfare practices, which help to ensure that the birds are treated respectfully throughout their lives and experience minimal stress. Dr. Grandin's guidelines also ensure that the animals are handled with patience, skill and respect, housed in clean, well designed facilities. Initially, our newest product lines including Clusters, Jerky treats and Pour Overs will be made from cage free, 100% vegetarian fed chicken sourced from US-raised suppliers. We’re currently working on a longer-range plan to secure an ample supply of free range, humanely raised chicken for these products. Our Turkey is 100% cage-free, and the meat is free of added hormones (which are not permitted in poultry) and antibiotics. A portion of the turkey in our products is sourced from thoughtfully raised farms, such as Pitman Farms. Pitman Farms turkeys are raised meeting or exceeding GAP standards and fed no antibiotics ever. Our duck is 100% cage -free (free-roaming), with a percent being free range (from Pitman Farms). Our duck is sourced from Jurgielewicz, and Pitman Farms (both suppliers are NAE (no antibiotics ever), veggie fed). The Jurgielewicz ducks are raised free-roaming in large temperature-controlled barns and are fed only a nutritious diet. The ducks are never fed any antibiotics or hormones to promote growth. Jurgielewicz Farms is the only duck farm in America with two “round-the-clock” veterinarians as well as a full-time duck welfare specialist to train employees and conduct duck welfare audits. Pitman Farms’ ducks grow naturally with plenty of open space on a ranch in sunny California. These ducks are raised in a humane manner by allowing them to roam in a stress-free environment that is four times the size of the average commercial ranch. Our beef is from a variety of different ranches throughout the Midwest and California. A portion of our beef is range/ grass fed and the remainder are fed a grain based diet. Some of our products include Wagyu Beef, raised using a slow-feeding phase of over 400 days. Wagyu beef is fed an all-vegetarian diet and handled with strict care protocols throughout the entire production system. Our beef meat is free of added hormones and antibiotics. What is the difference between the Minced turkey in bone broth gravy and the grain free turkey cate? I see ingredients similar, yet %'s are different. Does one target specific health challenges over another? My cats like them both, trying to decide which to be the main food. One has GI issues which is why this is a good food for him. Other has kidney issues(hereditary possibly) Neither is overweight, one is 7-8 years old, the other 11-12.: Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to us! The Cate is a smoother wet food texture, and the Gravy is a thicker chunky stew texture. Unfortunately, neither of these recipes are prescription diets that would target any specific health concerns. Although our recipes are not prescription, consuming a high moisture diet can be highly beneficial in keeping the kidneys hydrated and flushed.
