Pepper was born in February of 2017 and soon after transferred to the Humane Society of Pinellas County. We could tell she was a terrier, mixed with an American Staffordshire. Mom's an animal nutritionist, so she knows terriers of this breed are prone to skin issues from food allergies. When Pepper turned 8 months old, she was still on her raw diet with a base meat of beef with organs. Her fur was starting to fall out on her hip-area and her skin was discolored (reddish-pink) on her lower tummy, especially in her little folds. Mom switched her to a beef-free raw diet and added Honest Kitchen's Spruce Minimalist formula to her bowls. Not only did the different protein clear her right up, but the extra veggies and fiber in the Honest Kitchen formula helped to move the protein through her easier. She is so excited every meal to lick her bowl clean of ALL the "green stuff" as we like to call it, and we know she's getting everything she needs, including vitamins and minerals. When Pepper reached the one year mark, we switched to the Kindly Base Mix, so we could continue adding our own meat to the bowls, limiting even more ingredients. Today, Pepper is doing better than ever, with her green muzzle and all!
