LucLabrador Retriever — Age 8
Our soon-to-be 9-year-old lab, Luc, has suffered for years with bloat. Because it was so bad and so frequent, a few years ago we decided to take him in for gastropexy surgery. This is intended to help keep his stomach from flipping (which would prove fatal within a matter of minutes), but it doesn't resolve the bloat issue. Luc continued to bloat every day to some degree or another - sometimes so bad that it would literally look as though he had swallowed a beer keg. We were feeding him three smaller meals each day and he took expensive medication 1/2 hour before each meal. We tried changing his diet (including trying hypoallergenic foods), various medications to help move the food (and gas) through quicker, we used acupressure to help relieve the gas, but nothing resolved the bloating. A couple months ago, we talked to our vet and said we wanted to try changing Luc's diet to a non-GMO diet. She did some research and gave us the names of a few products she felt were acceptable from her point of view with respect to proper nutrition, animal feeding trials, etc. Honest Kitchen was on her list, so we decided to give it a try. We immediately noticed a change and by the time Luc was strictly on his new diet, the bloating STOPPED. At our last visit to the vet to give her an update, we decided to try taking Luc off his meds too. We stopped the meds two weeks ago and Luc has been fine - no bloating. We are absolutely blown away by the change. Our only regret is that we didn't discover it sooner. Luc eats Zeal and he gets Pecks for treats. He loves his new "astronaut food" and he now has an extra spring in his step. Thanks to everyone at Honest Kitchen for making such a high quality food that has taken away our little family member's discomfort and given us peace of mind.
