Reviews

Great for our Senior Dog

"Our Vet recommended this product and the results have been great. He had been experiencing gastrointestinal distress but no more! Our Belgian Malinois, Finn, responded to the variety and taste. Combined with the quality of the ingredients, I think our senior dog is really benefitting from the change to Honest Kitchen."

My dogs love this food!

"My dogs love this food! They will choose this over any kibble offered. It is so easy to make and I feel good knowing that there are no fillers! I love that there are so many different flavors to choose from. The subscription makes my life easier in that I don't need to remember to order when we are getting low."

Jody M. (5/5)

Good but ease your dog on it

"My dog likes it now. I usually feed him Ollie food but wanted to find a cheaper alternative. Even though this is advertised as “human grade”, you still need to slowly transition your dog even if coming from another “human grade” food like Ollie. My dog at first got very sick and I had to rush to the vet. Blood in stool and throwing up all day because I gave him a full bowl at once. This did not happen when I first put my dog on Ollie. But now everything is fine and my dog can eat “the honest kitchen” food now."

Phillip W. (3/5)

My dog has cleaner teeth

"My dog has cleaner teeth and the shiniest coat since switching to Hones Kitchen Dehydrated food. I highly recommend the food and a bonus it is so easy to travel with , as we compete in dog sports so this makes it very easy for me."

andrea m. (5/5)

Tasty

"Great food my dog goes crazy over it spins around in circles when I’m making the food"

Jose R. (5/5)

Great food

"This is an excellent food with great proteins and macros. My dog loves it too which is the best part"

Patricia B. (5/5)

False advertising - no organic ingredients

"I had used this food before and the label said organic oats and barley. I normally don't like using grains unless they are organic. I ordered again recently, but this box does NOT specify organic on those items. I emailed the company and they did indeed verify that organic ingredients are no longer used because they are too expensive. Well okay - but the website has not changed! It takes much longer to change labeling than a website - this is blatant false advertising."

Great!

"my dog loves this! he was unsure about it the first time but now he is obsessed! I love that it's shelf stable and so easy to make. It makes me feel better that my dog gets fresh food."

Q&A

I have three dogs of varying sizes. Can you tell me how many cups of Dehydrated food are in your 10 lb packages, so I can determine how long that size would last for my pack?
Hi Barb, Thank you for reaching out to The Honest Kitchen. Here are the cup amounts for each size package for estimation: **Dehydrated:** - Each 10lb box yields approximately 40 cups of the dry mix. - Each 7lb box yields approximately 30 cups of the dry mix. - Each 4lb box yields approximately 16 cups of the dry mix. - Each 3lb box yields approximately 14 cups of the dry mix. - Each 2lb box yields approximately 8 cups of the dry mix. Please let me know if you have any other concerns. Best,
What's the serving size? I have 3 large dogs that I feed 1/2 cup 3x daily currently
Hi Kevin, Thank you for reaching out to The Honest Kitchen. Here are the feeding guidelines for our food based on your dog's weight and activity level. https://support.thehonestkitchen.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026989632-How-much-do-I-feed-my-pet Please let me know if you have any other concerns. All the best,
Can you please clarify the serving amounts? We used to get a scooper included in the box, which was about 1/3 of a cup. So now I'm wondering if the suggested serving amounts on the box are listed for an actual cup or the scooper "cup"?
Hi! Its for an actual cup. Hope this help!
What is the shelf life of this product once opened. My dog did not really like this at first so i have been trying for a while and want to make sure its still good before i try again.
Hi Jazmin, Thanks so much for your email! Our dehydrated foods can be stored in their original packaging and, ideally, in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. A lower pantry or kitchen cupboard works well. We don't recommend storing the dry food in the refrigerator because this exposes it to moisture. If you choose to place the dry food in the fridge or freezer, it must remain there for the duration of its use. Our foods have a **shelf life of 12 months**, depending on ambient temperatures and humidity. We guarantee our foods for 12 months from the date of manufacturing printed on the top of the box. The Best Buy date reflects this 12-month shelf life. If you decide to transfer the food to your own food-grade storage container, we recommend that you save the MFG date, LOT#, and Best Buy date for your records. Also, make sure that a container you choose is clean and thoroughly dried before you place your new food into it. We recommend a BPA-free food storage container if you do transfer the food out of its original packaging. I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Is this still formulated to allow for the addition of extra meat? I used to use this with my last dog 8+ years ago.
Hi there Wendy, Thanks for reaching out to us. This recipe is a complete and balanced meal on it own, although you are welcome to add additional protein to the recipe for a boost of nutrients. Hope this info helps!

Example:

A 30 lb dog with an average activity level is recommended 1 dry cup per day.

If you purchase a 10 lb box (40 dry cups), it will last 40 days.

Yes! Dehydrated food is great as a complete meal, topper to your dog's favorite dry food or used with enrichment toys like lick mats.
