Reviews

Excellent Product

"We use the dehydrated duck and sweet potato to supplement our dog's homemade food diet. Each meal is half and half just to make sure our dog is getting all the necessary supplements. Have been using the dehydrated food for about 10 years! We also use the fish."

Best Food ever!!

"This food has been great for my allergy prone goldendoodle. This food seems to agree with her much better. I love that Honest kitchen has limited ingredient food options. My dog really loves all the different dehydrated flavors. She has had the turkey, fish and now the duck. I have recommended this food to all my clients at my doggie Daycare. Most of my clients have made the switch to Honest kitchen dehydrated or clusters. You would think that I work for the company with all of my recommendations with this dehydrated dog food. Everyone that has switched from grocery store brands to Honest kitchen have told me that their dogs are doing so much better. I highly recommend this food to everyone!"

My dogs really like this food.

"I usually use the base mixes with rotating meats for variety but I like to keep the limited ingredient duck and sweet potato recipe on hand for when I am super busy or when traveling in the sprinter van. All three of my dogs like it, a senior chihuahua, and two australian cattle dog mixes."

Q&A

Does your dehydration process reach a high enough heat to kill bacteria?
Hi Sandy, Thank you for reaching out to The Honest Kitchen. I hope you are doing well. In our dehydrated recipes, our meats, fish, and eggs are cooked to the required temperature to kill any harmful pathogens before being gently dehydrated. The gentle cooking process means these ingredients are not considered raw. Potatoes and grains are flash heated (and rolled in the case of our grains) to aid in digestion, then gently dehydrated to remove the moisture. Leafy greens are steamed in a dry-steam process as an additional food safety measure. Our dehydrated ingredients are then blended in a simple mixing process without any additional heat applications, before being packaged and sealed for optimum freshness. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other concerns. All the best,
Can I use the dehydrated food as a topper along with the Clusters?
Hi there Joann, Thanks for reaching out to us! Our dehydrated food can be used as a complete and balanced meal on it's own or as a topper on top of a complete and balanced meal like our clusters!
My dog has an allergy to Salmon. Do any of your recipes contain any oils other than Salmon? Thank you.
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to us! A majority of our dehydrated recipes will only include fish oil (derived from Salmon) as the DHA & EPA source in the recipes. However, our whole food clusters will include both coconut & fish oil in them.
What fish is used in your fish oil? My dog is allergic to salmon, mackerel, and trout. Thank you.
Hi there Kelly, Thanks for reaching out to us! We use salmon oil as our fish oil source.

Yes! Dehydrated food is great as a complete meal, topper to your dog's favorite dry food or used with enrichment toys like lick mats.

While you can use as much or as little as you'd like, we recommend mixing half of the suggested serving of your dog's dry food with half the suggested serving of dehydrated food. Adjust as needed to avoid overfeeding.

No, our dehydrated food has been gently cooked prior to dehydration. Specifically, the proteins we use are cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165ºF to ensure they're safe and free of pathogens.
