Q&A

I don’t see taurine listed as an added ingredient in any of the dog stews so I was just wondering why you do not add it.
Hello! Thank you for reaching out. May we know what specific product you are inquiring so we can check the specific ingredient? Thanks!
Hello, My dog Bandit loves your tetra pack stews and I love the ingredients, but I can't recycle the containers where I live and an unrecycled tetra pack in my waste every day is an environmental nightmare I can't live with. I check back about once a year to see if you have changed the packaging and am always disappointed to see the packs are still in use. Are there any future plans for going to BPA-free metal cans by chance? If not, I'll stop setting myself up for disappointment and will continue to buy your other awesome dog foods. :-)
Hi Kelly, Thanks for sending in your question. Tetra Paks are BPA free. We use Tetra Paks for all of our wet food packaging. Our Tetra Paks are the same ones used for other human grade products that are often featured at grocery stores as a safer, more efficient, recyclable alternative to aluminum cans or other packaging materials. Because they are so lightweight in comparison to cans, Tetra Paks help to reduce emissions from transportation by being more fuel-efficient. The polyethylene layer is the only layer that actually touches the food. Studies show that polyethylene is a non-leaching plastic and is safe for food use for humans and pets. I've listed some links below that will have more information on Tetra Paks for you. **How Recyclable Are They?** https://www.tetrapak.com/en-us/sustainability/carton-recycling **Are They Safe?** https://www.bellernutrition.com/blog/canned-foods-vs-tetra-paks-non-toxic-shopping-tips/#:~:text=Tetra%20Pak%20offers%20the%20same,a%20safer%20alternative%20to%20cans! https://gimmethegoodstuff.org/are-tetra-paks-safe/ **Are They Tested?** https://www.tetrapak.com/en-sg/campaigns/services-apac/maintenance-services/integrity-testing-services
Hello. My 12.5 y/o Cavalier needs to be on a nearly no diet. Can you please tell me the sodium content of slow cooked chicken? He loves it! What other dog food do you have with no or very low sodium please? Thank you

How much of the can of food should you feed a 15 pound dog, is it only 2 servings per can? Thank you!
Hi there Debbie, Thanks for reaching out to us! Feeding for a 15lb dog on our chicken one pot stew recipe is 1 box per day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each pound of dehydrated food equates to about 4 dry cups of food.

Find your dog's daily feeding amount using the feeding guidelines.

Divide that amount by the total dry cups in your chosen box (see below).

2 lb box = 8 dry cups
4 lb box = 16 dry cups
7 lb box = 28 dry cups
10 lb box = 40 dry cups

Example:

A 30 lb dog with an average activity level is recommended 1 dry cup per day.

If you purchase a 10 lb box (40 dry cups), it will last 40 days.

Yes! Dehydrated food is great as a complete meal, topper to your dog's favorite dry food or used with enrichment toys like lick mats.

While you can use as much or as little as you'd like, we recommend mixing half of the suggested serving of your dog's dry food with half the suggested serving of dehydrated food. Adjust as needed to avoid overfeeding.

No, our dehydrated food has been gently cooked prior to dehydration. Specifically, the proteins we use are cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165ºF to ensure they're safe and free of pathogens.

The 3 Best Ways to Stuff a KONG

Our cowoofers love a stuffed KONG! And there are many reasons we love to serve them. They're a great way to keep your pet entertained while treating them to something healthy and delicious. Plus, they serve as a great source of mental stimulation which can help with anxiety and destructive behavior caused by boredom. There are many ways to serve Honest Kitchen in conjunction with a KONG. Here are 3 of our favorite ways: KONG + Honest Kitchen's dehydrated recipes Our dehydrated recipes in a KONG is a classic combo! Whether you're looking to slow down your dog's eating, or just looking for a couple of extra minutes of quiet time while you're on a Zoom call, this is one of our favorite ways to keep dogs busy. We like to seal the KONG with a little pet-friendly peanut butter or a treat to ensure nothing falls out. This can serve as a snack or even a meal for pups who tend to gobble down their food too fast. SHOP NOW SHOP NOW SHOP NOW KONG + Honest Kitchen's Pâté and Stews Our latest obsession is to use our new wet foods in a KONG. This has quickly become a crowd favorite due to the palatability of our Butcher Block Pâté and One Pot Stews. These wet food varieties come in Tetra Paks and are less processed and fresher than cans, which make them a great option for those looking to boost their dog's health and nutrition. Tip: If you're using the One Pot Stews, we'd recommend putting tape on the bottom of the KONG, filling with Stew and freezing for a mess-free, long-lasting treat. Just remember to remove the tape before serving! SHOP NOW SHOP NOW KONG + Honest Kitchen's Wet Toppers Another easy way to stuff a KONG is to use Honest Kitchen's wet toppers. While this won't serve as a complete and balanced meal, this option is great for a mid-day snack between meals. These toppers are a healthy and tasty addition to any dog's diet, come in a variety of flavors, and have just a few ingredients. Plus, the easy-to-use box makes pouring into a KONG a simple and easy way to treat your dog to a protein-rich snack. SHOP NOW SHOP NOW We've used KONGS over the years for many reasons, from crate training to keeping busy puppies distracted, and everything in between. You can always freeze any of the above suggestions for a longer-lasting treat that'll buy you some extra quiet time. We love keeping a couple in the freezer ready to go at any minute and we suggest you do the same! Please remember to always supervise your dog while feeding and checkout KONG's suggestions on how to find the appropriate toy for your dog based on their size and chewing style.
