Reviews

Best puppy food

"We have a Borden Collie of 2 months- and we’ve transitioned from the breeder’s formula to Hoenst Kitchen, and our puppy absolutely loves it! We’re using the puppy wholegrain for her breakfast and trainings. She’s a big fan, and she stays super focus! Highly recommended!"

He's quite happy with clusters!

"Bunji, my Cattle Dog puppy seems to really enjoy his clusters! I've had to get him a special dish to slow him down, otherwise it would be devoured in a couple of gulps. I hope to get him back of the dehydrated food when he's a bit older since chicken is the only option in the clusters, and I would rather my dogs have a different meat option."

Tamara S. (5/5)

Diarrhea and dissatisfaction

"I was incredibly disappointment in this product as an honest kitchen user of 7+ years. I always keep the dehydrated food on hand and wanted to try the dry food clusters with my puppy as well as a pregnant female. Both usually have bellies of steel. But this food gave them explosive diarrhea. I was never able to get them fully on the food, even with a slow two month transition attempt. Both had negative fecal tests. I did not want to believe the food was the cause and I attempted to feed some to another dog who also developed diarrhea. What a waste. I had to through out the rest of the bag."

Brianna L. (1/5)

Puppy food

"Puppy eats this right up! Belgian Malinois and it fuels him very well, healthy coat, and weight. smells good to human as well, vet was satisfied at check up!"

Lorenzo B. (5/5)

Puppy Food

"My 8 week old Vizsla loves this food and he gets real nourishment from it."

Carol B. (5/5)

Great Product!

"Our dogs love this food and we love that it's simple, clean ingredients!"

Wendy M. (5/5)

Poor quality, poor customer service

"Poor quality and poor customer service. The quality of the last two bags we bought was atrocious. The only way to feed it to our dogs is to make mush out of it. Very disappointed with the lack of care about the quality of the hundred dollar bag of food I just purchased. Will definitely be switching brands. To accompany who stands behind their product. And the quality of it. ."

Kelly A. (1/5)

Picky puppy approved

"Food smells great compared to traditional kibble and this picky puppy really is enjoying the food Have not seen any dietary issues either"

Penny (5/5)

More fiber

"I switched to this brand because it has much more fiber than the other human grade brand I was using."

JOHN S. (5/5)

"Great company and very transparent about their food"

Q&A

Hello, I started my golden retriever puppy on this food and he seems to love it, but I can’t help to notice he has gotten extremely itchy. Will you guys be releasing a whole grain beef, turkey, or salmon version soon? Since he is large breed he does need grains. Thank you!
Hi Sabrina, Given how popular the Clusters have become, it's only a matter of time before we start expanding our line with a variety of proteins! Although we don't have exact release dates yet, our team is busy perfecting new recipes, using a variety of different proteins and ingredients. I'll be sure to send over your request to our product development team and be sure to stay in touch!
How much salmon oil is in the Whole Grain Chicken Whole Food Clusters for Puppies? I'm wondering how many mg per serving I would be feeding.
Hi Chryskwa, Unfortunately, we don't have the exact amount of salmon oil added as this is considered as propriety information. However, we do have our suggested feeding guide for your reference ![](https://thehonestkitchen.zendesk.com/attachments/token/CaTjBeGLTFYGh7JuLkgSUkBq4/?name=inlineImage.png) hope this helps!
Does the 20lb bag have a ziploc closure like the 4lb bag?
Hi Jaleen, Unfortunately, our big bags does not have the ziploc to seal the food. We're currently looking into new packaging solutions, but I don't have any specifics on this at the moment, sorry about that! Many customers simply roll down the top of the bag like breakfast cereal packaging and clip it (which is what I do), and this is fine! You can also transfer the food into an airtight container. If you decide to transfer the food to your own food-grade storage container, we recommend that you save the MFG date, LOT#, and Best By date for your records. Also, make sure that the container you choose is clean and thoroughly dried before you place your new food into it. I hope that helps!
With the dehydrated puppy food how long is the dry form shelf stable?
Hi Maria, Thank you for reaching out to The Honest Kitchen. I hope you are doing well. Our foods have a shelf life of twelve to twenty-four months, depending on the product, the ambient temperature, and the humidity where you live. The date of manufacture (MFG) is printed on the top of every box in a specially designed and kept' card. Ambient temperatures and humidity can impact shelf life. We recommend tightly securing the package when you are not using it. We're here to help should you have any further questions!
How many grams per cup
Hi Linda, Thanks for reaching out! There will be 4oz or approximately 113 grams in 1 cup of our Clusters. I hope this helps but feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. I would be happy to help. Best wishes and happy tails,

Frequently Asked Questions

Each pound of Whole Food Clusters equates to about 4 dry cups of food.

Find your dog's daily feeding amount using the feeding guidelines.

Divide that amount by the total dry cups in your chosen box (see below).

1 lb bag= 4 dry cups
4 lb bag= 16 dry cups
5 lb bag= 20 dry cups
10 lb bag = 40 dry cups
20 lb bag = 80 dry cups

Example:

A 30 lb dog with an average activity level is recommended 1.5 dry cups per day.

If you purchase a 10 lb bag (40 dry cups), it will last 27 days.

All of our Clusters recipes are 100% human grade and made using our MadeHonest™ process—which cold-presses, roasts, and gently dehydrates each batch to lock in nutrition and flavor. They’re crafted in a human food facility with high safety and quality standards and never include GMO ingredients or fillers like corn, wheat, or soy.

The key differences come down to ingredients, protein and variety:

  • Essential Clusters are made with healthy whole grains, high-quality protein, and the essential vitamins and minerals dogs need to thrive. They’re ideal for adult and senior dogs and include dual-protein options.
  • Whole Food Clusters build on that foundation with added superfoods like broccoli, kale, and carrots for extra health benefits. They also feature mostly single-protein recipes and are boosted with probiotics to support digestion. This line also includes options tailored to puppies and small breed dogs.
  • Protein Plus+ Clusters are dual-protein recipes that are highest in protein content. They also include added probiotics and are crafted to support many health benefits for puppies and adult dogs.

Both our Dehydrated and Clusters diets are complete and balanced and 100% human grade, so you aren't sacrificing quality when you choose between the two. Where they differ is in how they are made and how they are served.

Whole Food Clusters is our answer to "kibble." They're made by us in our own human grade facility using a proprietary MadeHonest™ process. We cold press, roast and gently dehydrate each golden delicious cluster to maintain the nutrients, aroma, and taste of our whole food ingredients.

And, unlike our dehydrated foods, there's no need to add water before serving, just simply scoop and serve!

Being human grade means that every ingredient in The Honest Kitchen's pet food meets the same safety and quality standards required for human food.

Our suppliers must adhere to strict guidelines, including human-edible status from harvest through production, adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, non-GMO ingredient usage, and freedom from chemicals or adulterants.
